Captain Pike recently contacted the Dark Nova team about his Captain’s Log. After the obligatory sniggering we actually had a look at what he’d sent us. It was a spreadsheet that allows you to track all the systems you’ve visited in Dark Nova.

It’s pretty obvious that this would be useful for tracking things like mercenaries, so when you get your first crew quarters you know where to find someone useful. However having played using it we’ve found it adds a new dimension to playing as a trader! Instead of just trading between systems you can warp between you can plan out proper trade routes that have much higher profits.

Captain Pike has put his spreadsheet on Google Docs so everyone can try using it. You can view it here. He’s also created an example that explains how to use it.

If you want your own copy you can do File->Export in Google Docs and save it as a spreadsheet. If you don’t have a spreadsheet application you can download OpenOffice for free. Or just copy and paste it into your own Google Docs spreadsheet.
