07.06New Version Released!
After weeks of waiting Apple has finally released the new version of Dark Nova to the App Store!
Version 1.031 of Dark Nova fixes a lot of the stability problems you’ve been telling us about, as well as being tested and approved by Apple for running on iPhone OS 3.0 devices, including the new iPhone 3GS.
Get the latest version from the App Store. If you have any problems please drop us a line at support@darknova.net.

Noticed a few quirks in the latest version, so thought you might be able to check them out.
Combat:
The combat system is a bit flakey. Without sound, the only way to tell the difference between pirates and police is noting that the buttons have changed, or that there’s a little police badge at the bottom right. This UI design is a bit iffy, since right-handed players are likely obscuring that badge with their fingers or thumb. Typically with iPhone apps it’s risky putting anything important the lower part of the screen, and particularly the corners.
Players who like to fight most of the pirates we meet are likely having a lot of fights, and it does get a bit repetitive, so we end up pressing “Attack” a great many times. The problem here is that it’s very easy to accidentally fire-upon a police ship. In general I find the combat to be pretty tedious, since it just comes down to my asking “do I have a better ship, and do I feel lucky?” Would be nice if it went a bit beyond repeatedly tapping the attack button, unless my luck is out in which case I switch to repeatedly attacking the flee button.
I’ve noticed that clicking on one solar system will sometimes bring up another. This is intermittent, and only occurs when I’m actually in that solar system. It’s showing me the name and stats for another solar system that’s way out of range. In one today, it was showing me a planet 100 parsecs away
When my cargo bay is full, but I opt to make room in order to collect some cargo from a destroyed ship, it presents me with the option to sell that cargo. I think it’s just re-using the dialogue.
I sometimes read the news, and see that there’s a plague in a specific solar system, yet they afflicted places won’t always buy the medicine. Not sure if that’s intentional.
When reading news, I have to pay 2 credits, but I don’t understand why I have to pay each time I read the same news. If I’m buying a newspaper, wouldn’t I keep hold of it rather than reading the first page, binning the paper, and then buying a new one so I could read page 2?
